Residencia Corazón has been welcoming writers to La Plata since 2006. Not as a workshop, not as a conference, as a home. You arrive with a project. You work in a house shared with visual artists, photographers and researchers from different parts of the world. Juan Pablo and Rodrigo, who run the residency, come by every day. The rest is up to you.
WHAT THE WRITING JOURNEY IS
The Writing Journey is our residency program for writers of all genres. What that means in practice varies: some writers come to disappear into a project for weeks with minimal contact with anyone. Others find that sharing a house with visual artists and researchers from different parts of the world opens something unexpected in their work. Both are fine. We do not impose a way of working — we try to understand what each writer needs and make that possible.
We welcome novelists, poets, essayists, playwrights, screenwriters, literary translators, researchers and interdisciplinary practitioners. We particularly welcome literary translators working on Argentine or Latin American literature into any language.
La Plata offers direct access to the literary community, academic institutions and archives that support that work.
-We are not a workshop or a conference. There are no faculty, panels or scheduled critiques. Juan Pablo and Rodrigo — the directors — are available throughout the stay: to talk about the project, to connect the writer with someone useful in the city, or simply to handle the practical aspects of daily life in La Plata.

FEES
From USD 800 per month (Writing Journey / Program 3). Minimum stay: 15 days. Discounts available for stays longer than one month, for pairs sharing a room, and for collective projects. We are flexible, please write to us.

We issue official invitation and acceptance letters within 24 hours of request. If your funding body needs a more detailed programme description- what a typical week looks like, how the residency supports your project development, what connection to the local literary and cultural scene is available- we provide all of that documentation the same day you need it.

LA PLATA — OUR CITY
La Plata is a university city one hour from Buenos Aires by train. It has its own distinct character: a large national university with an active literary and intellectual scene, a walkable grid of streets lined with trees, parks, forests, and the La Plata River nearby. It is quieter than Buenos Aires, but connected to it. Many writers who come expecting to work in isolation find themselves drawn into the city’s life. Others find exactly the solitude they were looking for. Both are fine.

Can I come as a writer if the other residents are visual artists?
. Yes. That mix is part of what defines the residency. Some find the proximity generates unexpected connections. Others simply enjoy having people around who are also deeply engaged in their own work.
What does a typical week look like?
. There is no fixed schedule. Most writers use mornings for writing. Directors come by during the day, sometimes to talk about the project, sometimes to suggest a connection in the city, sometimes just to check in. The evenings are shared with whoever else is in the house, or not, depending on what everyone needs.
Can I come for 15 days instead of a month?
Yes. The minimum stay for the Writing Journey is 15 days. We can also accommodate stays of several months.
Do I need to speak Spanish?
No. The residency operates in English and Spanish. La Plata is navigable without Spanish, though a few words help.

LA PLATA — NUESTRA CIUDAD
La Plata es una ciudad universitaria a una hora de Buenos Aires en tren o bus (las estaciones quedan muy cerca de nuestra casa). Tiene un carácter propio: una gran universidad nacional con una escena literaria e intelectual activa, una cuadrícula diseñada y caminable de calles arboladas, parques, bosques y el Río La Plata muy cerca. Es más tranquila que Buenos Aires, pero está conectada. Muchos escritores que llegan esperando trabajar en aislamiento terminan siendo atraídos por la vida de la ciudad. Otros encuentran exactamente la soledad que buscaban. Ambas opciones están bien.
